Before the Event

What is the cancellation policy?

The WWGSD organisers are a group of volunteers. The event is not designed to make a profit - we’re organised to break even on costs.

To ensure this happens we have put into place a cancellation and refund policy. We have a number of costs we have to meet, including venue and food costs, that do not change if an attendee doesn't turn up.

What should I bring?

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Medical needs

  • Togs (if you would like to use the pool)

  • Eye mask and earplugs if you usually need them for sleeping

  • Snacks

  • Ideas

  • Enthusiasm

  • Open-mindednes s

What should I not bring?

  • Towels and linens (unless you have specific preferences, towels and linens are all included in the accommodations at Living Springs)

  • Pets - furry friends must stay at home to maximise comfort of other attendees who may have allergies but please let us know if you’ll be bringing your guide dog, so we can bunk you together.

  • Cynicism

  • J udgement

I would like to bring my kid(s). Who will be looking after them?

If you’ve indicated you need childcare in the original registration, we have you on the list! But, if plans change, let us know via email at christchurch@wwgsd.nz. Our amazing childcare lead is the awesome Emily Tasker. She’s lovely and would love to chat with you about your childcare needs. Just email us at christchurch@wwgsd.nz and she’ll reach out.

What transportation is available to and from the event? Can I get a lift there and not back and vice versa?

Yes, there will be bus transport to and from Living Springs to central Christchurch’s Bus Interchange included in the ticket price and a ride share program to connect you with fellow attendees who have room in their car. Please let us know if you’d like to take the bus christchurch@wwgsd.nz

How do I find out who my roommate will be?

We are working through room assignments now - please make sure you get in touch with us as soon as possible if you haven’t already let us know about any room requirements you have. You can email us at christchurch@wwgsd.nz

I want to have a room alone, is this possible?

Due to the limited number of single rooms available we asked during the registration process if you’d need a single room for medical or personal reasons - if your requirements have changed, you have more questions, or just plain forgot to tell us, please email us as soon as possible so we can accommodate you at christchurch@wwgsd.nz.

I have medical/nutritional/accessibility needs. Who can I tell about this?

We collected this information during the registration process - if your requirements have changed, you have more questions, or just plain forgot to tell us, please email us as soon as possible so we can accommodate you at christchurch@wwgsd.nz.

How far away is the venue from shops?

The venue is located in the Port Hills, towards the Banks Peninsula. It is not walking distance to any shops, but is a beautiful, half-hour drive from Christchurch CBD. If you have specific snacks or toiletry needs, please bring them with you on the first day.

Can we bring cameras?

Absolutely - but be mindful that people may not want to have their photograph taken. Always ask if in doubt. We’d also love your photos after the event to share.

Can we post about the weekend on social?

WWGSD events operate under the ‘Chatham House Rule’. That means you can discuss the event - but not the specific details (like who said what).

“At a meeting held under the Chatham House Rule, anyone who comes to the meeting is free to use information from the discussion, but is not allowed to reveal who made any comment.”

Will there be wifi?

There is WiFi provided by the venue. But it can’t accommodate 120 heavy internet users. Therefore, please limit your internet use to browsing and messaging, and refrain from large downloads. Please be patient if it is running slowly.

Wi-fi is available in the main building (not including bunkhouses).

At the Event

Can I only come for one day out of the weekend?

We want everyone to be able to experience the whole event and get as much out of it as possible. For this reason we stipulate that attendees must be available to attend for the whole weekend. Unless you need to leave at some point for an emergency.

What is an unconference again?

At an unconference, there's no pre-set agenda. The plan for each weekend will be built by our group of women on the first night and sessions will be run informally based on what we want to share, discuss and learn. It's all about your interests and experiences.

What do I do if I’m arriving late?

Please let us know as soon as plans change. You can either email us at christchurch@wwgsd.nz or call Catarina at 022 154 5049 the day of the event.

WWGSD Christchurch will provide the alcohol to celebrate the weekend however you cannot bring your own nor will it be sold onsite. There are also designated smoking areas at Living Springs, locations of these are provided on your lanyard.
